G-Spot

Fun wave when the Yellowstone River is flowing at 6,000-11,000 cfs in Billings. The prime is at 9,500-10,400 cfs. The wave is easy to get into and out of with a nice eddy to pull you back up to your starting point.

Directions: Take the frontage road East from Columbus to mile marker 5. There is a little pull out just a few hundred yards West of the mile marker. Park cross the railroads tracks, there is a well defined trail. You can see the wave below you.

Conditions

The flow rates are based on the Billings gauge. Below 2,500cfs, the river is low and boney, a small fun wave is formed at the beginning of the wave train. At 6,000cfs the lower G forms and is fun up until 11,000 best at 10,400. Around 7,400 middle G comes in it is a softer wave. At 12,000 Mac G comes in, it is finicky but the wave will be about head high.
