At high tide Bay of Fundy spills back into the mouth of the river against the current. As a result a huge wave shoots back up the river for miles. The locals think of the water of toxic, nobody swims there — seeing surfers in this rivers is pretty new to Moncton.

The two Californian surfers set a new North American Record for the longest wave ever surfed: they rode the tidal bore over 20 miles in a session of 2 1/2 hours. Also Xavier Goguen, a surfer from Moncton and some local dudes saw this as a perfect opportunity to join the two Californian surfers. The tidal wave attracted riders from far away. A surfer girl came all the way from Norway to surf this river wave. She was the first woman ever riding that chocolate bore.
