River Surfing Golden Colorado

The water at Clear Creek Whitewater Park is cold and refreshing. The ideal flow to hit this river at is 500 cfs to 1,000+ cfs. There are a few different waves in the park but my favorite wave is the bottom feature known as Bingo Wave. Actually, I learned to river surf in Golden Co on clear creek!

There is a path that runs the length of the whitewater park. You can walk or skate the path to scope out all the features. The bottom wave is my favorite, Library Wave is my second favorite then Bleacher Wave at lower flow on a SUP is my last choice.

What makes this location unique

This spot is unique because the river flows into the Coors factory where they make Coors Beer. When I was little I use to think it was funny to pee in the river. I thought beer tasted like pee because of it!

Tip

The river does get pretty busy with kayaks and tubers. Just remember to give the down river the right of way. Jump off the wave when you see people floating or paddling downstream.

What board I was surfing

I was surfing the wave with my inflatable surfboard. This board is crazy. It surfs rail to rail just as well as a hardboard. It is incredibly ridged just like a hardboard. I love surfing it because I never have to worry about it getting dinged up at all.

If you have any questions about this spot just let me know. Don’t forget to watch my Vlog on YouTube. If you like what I am doing please like and subscribe!

See you guys on the water!

When I was 12 my dad gave me a boogie board. He told me to go play in the river next to his apartment. I have been playing in the water and helping pioneer the river surfing scene in Colorado ever since. I have a bucket list of waves I want to surf around the world! I love to play in the water and will try and surf anything! Surfing is surfing no matter what you are riding, short board, long board, SUP, boogie board, pool toys, lunch trays ... you name it I will try and surf it!
