TED Talk about River Surfing

Wave technician Paul Primus talks about the double benefit of building river features to replace dangerous low head dams. A dual function wave system helps improving both irrigation and recreation. Paul argues that “river surfing provides a much safer and a much more fun way to distribute water” and ultimately “helps to save lives”.

    Paul,
That was an outstanding speech you gave. And the concept of merging the needs of recreation (surfing) and farming (irrigation) in finding a safer way to manage low head dams is ingenious. It was good to see you at KWP when the wave was at its peak, and over the following days I rode endlessly. In my life, having surfed since I was a little kid back in 1957, days like that have hit the depth of my soul. We know the stoke and share the spirit.
